A very damp walk from 7am until 10.45am across Foxhill Down and Langdon Hole today with Virginia and my mate Ian Searle in search of grounded migrants! Picture above … the Down with Dover Castle beyond.
A slow start, but after a while we found a Spotted Flycatcher, 2, possibly 3 Common Redstarts and a Black Redstart. Overhead a pair of Ravens showed well and 3 Peregrines raced past!
There was some excitement when Virginia spotted a WRYNECK below us and we watched it for about 20 minutes!

There were excellent numbers of warblers with 22 Lesser Whitethroat , 6 Common Whitethroat , 15 Chiffchaff, 3 Garden Warbler and 8 Willow Warbler.

A total of 50 species included a Northern Wheatear and 7 Eurasian Wigeon heading inland!
