At just after 6am, I wandered out onto the beach and enjoyed the early rays of the sun as it rose over the sea! The first bright day in over a week! Surprisingly there was a Guillemot bobbing in the sea, a few yards from the beach.

We did a 3.5 mile patch walk along the beach and around the backfields. There were 4 newly arrived Northern Wheatear and another smart Whinchat. Near the horse paddocks we came across 3, possible 4 Common Redstarts. Warblers were more in evidence with 5 Lesser Whitethroat, a Common Whitethroat, 2 Blackcap and 2 Chiffchaff. Above us 28 Barn Swallows were twittering noisily and a single Yellowhammer was singing.

We noticed an influx of migrant Silver Y Moths (shown below) with 25 in our back garden along with a very smart Red Underwing Moth.
