A very grey dawn at 6am today and with a brisk and cool NE wind, which brought in a few rain showers. After a very quiet start, 7 Teal headed south, then a few small flocks of Eurasian Wigeon battled N totalling 27. These birds winter here and so it was a bit sobering to think winter is on its way!
The highlights of our 4 hour seawatch however, were a SOOTY SHEARWATER flying south at 10.04am, a 1w BLACK TERN heading N with an adult winter Mediterranean Gull, a BONXIE south, a 2w YELLOW-LEGGED GULL (which sat on the sea for a15 minutes) 7 Dunlin N, a Red Knot N, 6 Fulmar and 45 Gannets.
