After the excitement of finding the Red-backed Shrike last week, and not having much time to bird the patch at the weekend, I was determined to get a couple of hours in before work this morning. Virginia came with me and we worked our way anti-clockwise around the patch. At just after 7am, we were on the Freedown and there we found two splendid Pied Flycatchers - new year birds and patch ticks!

As we headed back, we saw 7 Swallows, 10 Blackcaps and the first patch Greenshank calling and heading north along the shore.
