Whitethroats return!

Yesterday's warm sunny weather with light southerly winds (which encouraged a Red-rumped Swallow and Black Kite to pass over, for some lucky observers!), was not to be repeated today. Instead a bitterly cold easterly wind, gusting up to 20mph killed off most bird migration. However, all was not lost and a party of 4 Common Whitethroats, that presumably arrived the day before, were singing and displaying in the fields behind the house. Of note too was a smart Northern Wheatear on the beach Monday morning.
